On 8 October, no less than three balloons were launched from Esrange Space Center. All three were part of the BEXUS program which enables European students to perform experiments using high altitude balloons.

Balloons used for BEXUS 6/7 was 10 000m3 Zodiac balloons. The balloons flew for 2-4 hours and reached 25-30 km altitude.
